Overnight Checklist

What to Bring to the State Meeting

Communication

  • Each student bringing a cell phone to the State Meeting should share their phone number with their chaperone for communication purposes.

Presentation

  • Your presentation materials: note cards, a pen or pencil
  • The presentation used will be the version uploaded to the registration website once the State Upload Deadline passes.

Clothes

  • Dress will be casual for all events with the exception of your presentation.
  • You will need dress clothes for your presentation; if you have a pin and bars, consider wearing those during your presentation!
  • You will be walking long distances across campus so wear comfortable shoes.
  • It often rains during the State Meeting; an umbrella and/or jacket is suggested.

Toiletries

  • Towels (at least 2)
  • Soap/shampoo
  • Deodorant
  • Hair-dryer
  • Any other toiletries you require
  • Flip-flops for the shower
  • An alarm clock (either on your phone or a physical clock)

Bedding:

  • Sheets are provided.
  • Pillows and blankets are NOT provided.

Money:

  • For lunch on the way to/from Penn State if a stop is planned.
  • Consider bringing money if you plan to visit downtown stores, if you need to purchase additional PJAS pin or bars, or if you plan to buy food or items around campus (e.g. pizza).

Any medication that is needed for medical problems such as allergies, asthma, diabetes, etc.

 

Optional Items

  • Money for PJAS T-shirts and sweatshirts, Penn State items, video games, between-meal snacks. Small bills and quarters are preferable to larger bills.
  • Athletic equipment (basketball, volleyball and/or tennis racket)
  • Snacks. Rooms are equipped with a small refrigerator and microwave.

 

What NOT to Bring to the State Meeting

Possessing the following items at the State Meeting may result in being sent home immediately:

  • Boom Boxes, Radios
  • Laser Pointers
  • Roller Blades, Skates, or Skateboards
  • Water Guns or Super Soakers
  • Weapons, alcohol, drugs, explosives, or tobacco (including electronic devices)
  • Candles or incense
  • Any item that may cause injury to you or others.

Penn State Security reserves the right to confiscate any items that may cause injury or be hazardous to you or others.
